In this fun, informative workshop, students will learn how sculpt insect-inspired soft glass beads in the flame, both on-mandrel and off-mandrel. Beetles, butterfly wings, butterflies, caterpillars, and bees are all fair game! After creating the sculptural base beads, students learn how to create detail and vibrant color using vitreous enamels. Margaret will share her strategies for mixing, layering, fading, and stippiling enamel paints to get the detail and vibrant color that characterize her Beetle and Butterfly beads. Methods for mixing enamels and “firing” enamels onto beads after painting will also be covered. Learning enamel painting opens up your beadmaking to a whole new world of detail and color- join us for this inspiring, fun, and informative workshop!
